A Lesson From The Ant

I have never really had a problem with motivation as it relates to work. I enjoy work and see its connection to reward. I know we are all ‘wired up’ a little different. We have different levels of energy. If anything, I tend to feel guilty when I relax! Solomon reminds us to look at the ant for inspiration when we are lazy. He says they don’t wait for others to tell them what to do- they are self starters. They plan well- by preparing in the right season and harvesting in the next. They rest, but not for too long. Lastly, he says that poverty comes in and robs us. Let’s not be lazy, especially when it comes to our life in Christ.

Go to the ant, you lazy one,
Observe its ways and be wise,
Which, having no chief, officer, or ruler,
Prepares its food in the summer
And gathers its provision in the harvest.
How long will you lie down, you lazy one?
When will you arise from your sleep?
“A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest,”
Then your poverty will come in like a drifter,
And your need like an armed man. Proverbs 6:6-11

How productive and proactive am I? Do I have plans for prosperity?

God, as this day begins- I know that every breath and certainly even the ability to produce wealth come from You. For that I am grateful. I pray I can be used by You to reach out and love someone in Jesus’ name. Amen.
