A Leader’s Legacy Lasts

legacyIsrael served the Lord all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who survived Joshua, and had known all the deeds of the Lord which He had done for Israel. Joshua 24:31

Joshua carried on the leadership of Moses in such an effective way that even after he died, the people served God and knew about everything the Lord had done for Israel. In other words, the culture he established continued to be self-reinforcing. The stories and purpose were internalized and communicated. Though it would not last forever, Joshua’s legacy was strong.

How about me? How am I extending the legacy handed to me so that people will know all the deed the Lord has done?

God, today is our celebration of the Crossroads Schools legacy. Help me communicate effectively all the good You have done and build a legacy that continues all the days of the elders who survive me.
