So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
What does it mean to number our days? To use the days of our life in a God-honoring way and to accomplish that for which He created us. The way to find all this out, is to fear God and have a reverent respect for Him. Too many feel like God is a forgetful grandpa gumming his jaw and full of silly tales. Moses understood our God is a consuming fire. He writes this Psalm to encourage all of us to live in a wise way. The new testament echoes this plea… Ephesians 5:15 says ‘Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time’.
How about my days? Are they used to God’s great glory or my own? Does the reality that I will give account to Him and not any man affect my decision-making? Yes it does. I think I am oft misunderstood.
God, I want to walk this day being led and guided by You. May I present to You a heart of wisdom.
