Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished. Proverbs 17:5
How I treat the poor and respond to disasters reveals some important things about my relationship with God. Contempt and gloating instead of compassion are contrary to God’s heart.
Is there evidence in my life of compassion for the poor and proactive response to tragedies and disasters? Yes, but I have to be careful not to crowd God out of my schedule and budget.
Lord Jesus, You are my model in all things. Remind me moment by moment how to feel and act in every situation and with every person today. Thank you that You promise to always be with me. And the gospel is the most valuable thing in all the world. I can share it and make anyone rich.
