But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them.
For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? Romans 11:13-15
Paul likens God’s plan in saving the Gentiles as a partial hardening of the hearts of Israelites. He sees his ministry as one that might actually cause jealousy in his fellow countrymen, and in doing so, draw them to Christ. One day God’s program will shift as the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled and then a final turn toward the Israelites will occur. How wonderful that will be!
Is anyone moved toward God because of my ministry? Am I participating and anticipating God’s move to save those of Jewish descent and birth?
God, I want to echo the words of the Apostle Paul who wrote in this chapter – Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! Your plan of salvation is truly amazing and I am privilege to be part of it. Thank you for Your great love and mercy. Would you help me preach Your Word again today with effectiveness. May Your Spirit move upon the hearts of many.
