faithIn view of all this, we are making a binding agreement, putting it in writing, and our leaders, our Levites and our priests are affixing their seals to it.
When the neighboring peoples bring merchandise or grain to sell on the Sabbath, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on any holy day. Every seventh year we will forgo working the land and will cancel all debts. Nehemiah 9:38; 10:31

The people of God made vows to God in a repentant response to the reading of the book of Moses. They realized their sin, both nationally and personally. One example was to keep the Sabbath holy and also to observe the practice of letting the fields lay fallow on the seventh year, as well as forging debts as a recognition of the year of jubilee. These represent faith-filled response to God’s word.

How do I respond to God’s Word? Am I obedient to it. Do I write down the application and make vows when my pastor is teaching and preaching? Do I follow through?

God, thank You for this example of how to respond to Your Word when it is taught and preached. I will review my notes and faithfully and in a faith-filled way apply what was read, taught, and preached this week!
