A Drop in the Bucket

Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket they are regarded as dust on the scales;
He weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. Isaiah 40:15

The prophet Isaiah reminds God’s people that their time of punishment will come to an end. Interestingly, he foretells of John the Baptist and the coming of Jesus the Messiah. In the midst of this glorious prophecy, he reminds us of how awesome and great God is. To Him, the nations of the earth are like a tiny drop of water and an island would be like a small bit of dust. What a mighty God who has made us and the world!

Do I live with this reality in mind? No, last night I was worrying about how God would provide for our schools and church and friends, etc. He owns the cattle on one thousand hills and a few islands to boot!

God, forgive my lack of faith. Oh, I believe You alone are the answer. Move your people. Do miracles. Be everything we can’t be. You alone are God! I trust You.
