Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9
What was it? What was the thorn in the flesh. Some say that Paul had a debilitating eye disease the disfigured him and made him unattractive. Whatever suffering Paul experienced in this way, he received a word from the Lord that made a life changing difference. “Embrace your weakness”… graciously accept your limitations, knowing God is not limited. In our self absorbed culture, this sounds so different. We always want to puff ourselves up, toot our own horn, and make ourselves look good. Thank God in our weakness, He becomes strong.
What weakness and I trying to mask? How could God be exalted and glorified through it?
God, show me again today how Your grace is sufficient for me. Thank you for what You have planned today. I want so much for spiritual fruit that will make an eternal difference to be born our this day’s activity. Would you work in me and through me to do Your wonderful will according to Your ways. I need you and expect Your power to be on display through my weaknesses and strengths.
