Woe Nellie

WoeNellieAs I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” Revelation 8:13

In John’s vision, an angel blows four trumpets, each with devastating results on the earth. 1/3 of the earth, sea, rivers and sky are destroyed. But its just the lemon next to the pie. Now the greater expressions of the wrath of God are about to occur. Some may wonder if God is justified in His anger. He is. All the sin of all time is recompensed (every child molested, every lie told, every time we did not follow God’s prompting to help another person, every idol worshiped, every war and murder…)

Do I really believe sin is so sinful and contrary to Your Holy nature? Do I abhor my own sin and shun it and repent quickly… or do I play around on the edge?

Lord Jesus, the same wrath was poured out not upon me, but upon You in my place. Oh, I realize afresh this morning the sinfulness of sin and that the wages of sin is death. May I walk before You today clean, redeemed, and free of condemnation. Thank you that I will not experience the great “Woes”.
