I Am Doing Good

People often ask me, how you doin’? My reply, ‘I am doing good’. (I know, the proper word is ‘well’ – I am from Norco). If they were to ask me ‘what are you doin’? Same thing- ‘I am doing good’. Lol. One of my favorite praises is when my mom would say “You done good!”. I can hear it in my mind right now. I really never doubt whether it is worth it being a Christian. I know some do, and maybe when I was younger I thought that way. The decision to go ‘all in’ with Jesus, His teachings, life, and calling was made many years ago. While I, like everyone else, battle the tendency toward fleshly living, I am resolved to live each day as much as possible ‘in the spirit’ and for God’s glory. There are small spiritual disciplines, constant prayers, serving others, and church gatherings that mark my life. These are not burdensome, but opportunities to do good, especially with other believers. Living like this is its own reward because I feel close to my maker. And in the end, I will be ready to meet Him face to face, for I will recognize him, and he will know me.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:7-10 NASB

What good does God have for me today?

God, as this day begins- there are opportunities awaiting if I have eyes to see and ears to hear. Would you make me attentive to the needs of people, especially the household of faith. I want to pause to pray for parents hurting over children who died unexpectedly and early in life. I know a day does not pass without the sting of loss. For Connie, Michael, who are the newest to the horrible club- meet them where they are. Be real and close. Thank you God that I am so fortunate to be part of a loving church and Christian school. May we all do good today!
