For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
Trying to be a “pleaser of men” will cause difficulty for believers. God has a calling for every life and many times it will be to the disappointment of others who aspire differently for us. I imagine many talented athletes, brilliant academics, and noble politicians have been re-directed to other service for God, to the scorn of their peers and parents.
To some degree, I bet people say “what are you doing, being a pastor?” But, for me this is a first calling. While I may engage in lots of other activities and endeavors, I am really not trying to please others, but follow God’s will.
Lord, its neat to be sure at the end of the day that You are directing my life. I confess I am not always sure at the onset why you would lead me to certain places, but I trust You, even as Paul trusted You to send him to Arabia.
