sandHow precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You. Psalm 139:17-18

In this beautiful song, David shares how intimately God knows us, how He planned our lives and how he thinks of us all the time. It evokes a sense of amazing security and peace in my heart. The literalist will try to calculate the number of grains of sand in the earth and attempt to quantify how often God thinks of us. If you assume a grain of sand has an average size and you calculate how many grains are in a teaspoon and then multiply by all the beaches and deserts in the world, the Earth has roughly (and we’re speaking very roughly here) 7.5 x 1018 grains of sand, or seven quintillion, five hundred quadrillion grains. (NPR.org) That’s a lot of thoughts from our loving heavenly Father.

How much do I think of God? Does my life reflect the faith, hope and trust that is warranted since I receive God’s amazing attention?

Lord, how precious are Your thoughts… I am marveling at Your great love and realizing again its undeserved. I receive it, bask in it and praise You for it. May I walk with a sense of humble confidence because You are thinking about me and with me as well.
