For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:5-7
After a good meal while on a mission trip, I was asked ‘Do you want more?’ My answer was ‘No! Estoy contento!’, (No, I am content or full.) Paul told Timohty don’t be content, but rather ‘fan to a flame’, the gift of God which is in you. Our goal for men in our ministry is… every man taking a step of spiritual growth, every day. Paul knew that God gifted Timothy, and it was Timothy’s responsibility to use the gift.
I am continually kindling afresh the gifts and calling of God in my life? Yes. Do I have a ‘I am content’ attitude, or am I allowing God to develop, stretch, experience and teach me more?
Today Lord, I am looking for ways and opportunities to grow. Thank you for this awesome adventure in growing up into the fullness of Christ Jesus. I praise you for the faithful friends around me who do the same each day, bless them as they too take fan in hand and restart fires in their lives.
