This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7
In the opening to this letter letter, John the beloved disciple reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world. He is the express image of God. And God is light. Wow! So many doubt if God really is love and light. But its true, 100%, no darkness at all. And because we come into a relationship with Him, we walk in the light and experience something very special together – fellowship. This is the Christian life. The light and love of God transforms me day by day into the likeness of Christ.
Am I walking in the light? Am I walking in love and truth with God empowering my life? While I am not perfect, the abiding presence of God’s Holy Spirit is changing me.
God, you really are the light of my life. Please work in my life today, especially since today is a day for worshiping with everyone. Speak to me from Your Word as pastor Chuck preaches and teaches. May my singing and worship be a joy to You. I want to be a light bearer today.
