You’re Invited

Youre InvitedAnd the master said to the slave, Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner. Luke 14:23-24

People in America seemed consumed by their own distractions of entertainment, sport, businesses, and leisure. They seem little interested in the invitation to come to Christ. Then transition and tension enter their lives and God seems a bit more relevant. While there is plenty of room in the kingdom of heaven, who will respond to the invitation may surprise us. Jesus parables indicate a humble person who responds to the invitation by establishing Jesus as the priority in their life will experience a magnificent wedding feast (life with Christ).

How have I responded to the invitation? Have I put it on the fridge?… sent an excuse, made an RSVP, or come in person? Now that I am one ‘going into the highways and hedges’, am I prepared for the mixed response?

God, thank you for sending me an invitation to Your wedding feast. I find my greatest understanding of purpose in light of who You are. Today, I pray that living out that purpose will be contagious and an living invitation to others to come in as well.
