I read about Derrick Moore who rescued a young girl in Myrtle Beach who was caught in a rip current. As he handed her off, he went under and later died. Stories of heroic sacrifice are inspiring. She is alive and will hopefully live out all the purposes of God because of Derrick. The greatest story of all is that Jesus rescued us from a kingdom of darkness and into a kingdom of light. What is this wonderful Kingdom of Light? The Kingdom of Light is life under the loving rule of Jesus, where God’s truth replaces deception, His righteousness replaces sin, and His life replaces spiritual death. The apostle John puts it beautifully: “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” — 1 John 1:5. Jesus then says: “I am the light of the world.” — John 8:12. And Paul tells Christians: “You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” — Ephesians 5:8
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14 NASB
How am I exemplifying truth, righteousness and spiritual life? Is there any darkness that needs exposing to God’s glorious light?
God, as this day begins- I want to walk in light and love. I desire to be pleasing in Your sight and not to stumble in sin. So, I open my heart (desires) to the control of the Holy Spirit. Let’s make an eternal difference today.
