Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt.” Exodus 3:1-16 NASB
God has purpose for our lives. I am more and more convince of that that older I get. His purposes can increase the older we get. Moses accepted a difficult assignment late in age. But, he asked God, ‘how do I convince others that You are real and that You care?’ It was then that God disclosed His personal name and nature more clearly than ever before- He said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”. In saying that, God said, I am right now, present with you, I have always been, and I am the ever becoming One. I am the same One who spoke to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Grab on to this name (which we now say as Yahweh), for it is a forever name. So, what was God’s answer? Moses, I will be with you in such an evident way, all will see the invisible God, clearly and know that I am indeed concerned about my children. I wonder if we realize that our lives are Proof Positive that God is real and that He cares. Let’s let Him shine in us and through us today.
What area of my life, flaws and all, could God shine and reveal His ever present and caring nature?
God, as this day begins- I get to write Thank You notes to people. What a joy to say ‘thanks for investing in the kingdom of God’. Its a bit of a day off of work too… so may my lovely wife and I enjoy a bit of home chores and relaxing as well. Thank you for Your goodness. I pray You will comfort Jeanetta and Doug as she undergoes the PET scan. Protect her and do a miracle in her at a cellular level. Show that You are present and concerned. Amen.
