I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:12-14
I feel as though God called me into His service. I think that’s the sense every Christian has, who have been inspired by God into a ministry. For some of us, its a full-time paid staff position in a church. For the vast majority its volunteering and unpaid (perhaps the higher calling). In any case, its God who finds us faithful, putting us into service by His mercy in spite of our former life.
How about you? Do you have a job in the life of the church or in the community which you live? Why not?
God, I am reminded today that Your kingdom grows when Your people respond to that call to ministry and service for Your glory. I believe some of the greatest ministry are yet to become a reality, because someone hasn’t responded to Your call. Help me encourage and inspire all I know to follow the call into ministry.
