Praying For World Peace

While making mention of you in my prayers that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. Ephesians 1:16b-19

Ever wonder what to pray? Sometimes we pray for very general things like- ‘world peace’. How can we pray more specifically for that which God is already trying to do in people’s lives? We love our family and friends… but exactly how should we pray for them (aside from generally asking for God’s blessing upon them)? How about praying for the things that the apostle Paul felt were important- God would love to give them:
1) a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus
2) that their eyes of their heart may be enlightened
3) they know the hope of His calling
4) understand the riches of the glory of His inheritance (of which we are a part)
5) the surpassing greatness of His power for us who believe
Wow! Who wouldn’t want to experience all of this?

Who can I pray for today? What would they most need today?

God, as this day continues, would you bring to my mind those in my family and set of friends. Would you give them what they need most, a greater understanding of these amazing aspects of our life in Christ and the power available to all who believe. Lord, I pray each of my children will pause during the day and consider Jesus and all that he means to us and realize the love and power available from Him to make all things possible in their lives. And yes, I pray for world peace too.
