Without Love, Nothing Matters

loveIf I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

I am reminded by the Apostle Paul of the preeminent nature of love. No matter what, love is what matters. If I am good at speeches, my words are discounted if I am not loving. If I can speak forth for God and even predict the future, unraveling great mysteries, but am not loving, it simply doesn’t matter. As important as faith is, without love, I am a zero. If I am extremely generous, and how wonderful that is, but not loving, forget about it. And if I sacrifice my own body, but do not have love, it doesn’t really matter. Wow! Wow! Wow! So, I am thinking about love today.

Is my focus and priority love? How am I doing in this area? What would others say they experience when around me?

God, help me be like Jesus today, motivated by love to love!
