With Your Help

To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
To the blameless you show yourself blameless,
To the pure you show yourself pure,
But to the devious you show yourself shrewd.
You save the humble, but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
With your help I can advance against a troop;
With my God I can scale a wall. Psalm 18:25-29

When I lack confidence to take on the challenges of a day, this Psalm reminds me I can ‘advance against a troop’ and ‘scale a wall’ with God’s help.
David wrote Psalm 18 (as recorded in 2 Samuel 22) when he realized God had delivered him from his enemies, including the attacks from king Saul. In it, he says God is faithful, blameless, and pure. David’s desire is to be the same and he sees that God deals with him according to his own integrity. What a great lesson for all of us.

What challenges will be part of this day? How can I exhibit Christlike character as I approach them?

God, in humility I come to You asking for help to face today. I anticipate good things ahead, but challenges as well. Would you build in me faithfulness? Help me be blameless before You… pure and humble. Make any darkness in me, light and love. Then I will advance with confidence knowing You are with me. For that I am grateful.
