Wisdom Personified

When I finally read through the gospel accounts (at the ripe old age of 18 years old) of Jesus life and ministry on earth, I was blown away by his intellect and wisdom coupled with compassion and courage. Solomon, some 950+ years earlier personified wisdom in Proverbs 8. He says she calls out from the most important places. He tells us if we seek her, we will find her. But, if we neglect her- we will suffer for it. The same is true with Jesus. He is available to anyone willing to repent and follow Him. If we seek Him, we will find Him. If we reject Him, we injure ourselves. And all who love Him, the Father in heaven loves. Let’s seek the wisdom found in the person of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Christ.

Now then, sons, listen to me,
For blessed are those who keep my ways.
Listen to instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.
Blessed is the person who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at my doorposts.
For one who finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord.
But one who sins against me injures himself;
All those who hate me love death.” Proverbs 8:32-36

How am I seeking to know Jesus better each day? Am I allowing Him to reign in my heart and wisdom to define my life?

God, as this day begins- its appears to me that a new season is starting with a fair amount of activity and busyness. I don’t want to lose focus on what You have called me to be and do. I certainly don’t want the urgent to crowd the important. Help me apply wisdom to every situation and hour. Jesus, I want to follow Your will and ways, for You are my model in all things. Show me the path to tread today. Amen.
