Jesus replied, “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive. Luke 20:34-38
I feel like my wife Maureen is the greatest earthly gift I have received from God.
My wife and I talk about how and if, we will know each other in heaven (the next age/life/eternity). She says it would be nice if we are married. I stay silent and don’t reply… but I think about this Bible passage. When the religious leaders tried to trap Him with His understanding of the Mosaic law, he turned the tables on them. They misunderstood what happens next… when we close our eyes here on earth for the final time, we open them in the presence of God in the “next age”. Some significant things to note- God intended the resurrection even evidenced in Moses time. You see, no one would be justified under the law. Our bodies are subjected to futility because of sin. But, God has a Spiritual Body ready for us that will never tire, cry, desire lustful things, or wear out. It will be incorruptible, imperishable, incredible.
How am I preparing for the next life now?
God, as this day begins, would you again lead and guide me through the day. Show me Your will in all things, give me thoughts above my own and may I reach out and love someone in Your name. Thank that I will see Kai, Kasey and little Kennedy today. Move in the lives of my children- I am so grateful for them and proud of each. And thank your my lovely wife… I hope we have apartments in the next age, very close to one another.
