Why Sprinkling?

Isn’t it interesting that so much of what happened with the people of God in the Old Testament, has its spiritual fulfillment in us who believe in Christ? When Moses received the commands and statutes of God, he was amongst people with little hope of actually abiding by the law. But, all of this was forecasting the perfect law of liberty and the reality for a believer today who lives by the control and power of the Holy Spirit. The Words of God explained by Moses brought about an immediate obedient response by the people followed by a sprinkling of blood from the sacrificial offering. The blood spoke of Jesus, the perfect sacrifice who was to come. God’s holiness required a forgiveness of our sins and imperfections and ultimately that came through Jesus Christ.

Then he took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!” So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.” Exodus 24:7-8 NASB

Is there anything lacking in my obedience and zeal for God? How has the life, sacrificial death, and resurrection changed my life?

God, as this day begins- I am grateful for the love and affection You’ve given me. Thank you for your grace and mercy. May I be used by You to reach out and love someone in Jesus’ name.
