Who Switched The Price Tags?

price tagsSo when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.
If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.
Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.
If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. John 13:12-17

He did it again, right at the end before His betrayal… Jesus “switched the price tags”. He showed that the greatest in His kingdom would be the servant of all. What? He set a pattern for those of us who are His followers that servanthood is the pathway to greatness. If the ruler of the universe, could disrobe and wash feet like a slave, what would I refuse?

Am I holding back God’s plan for my life because of pride? What lowly role is He calling me to next?

God, better is one day in your courts that a thousand elsewhere. I praise You for the privilege of serving You and following the pattern set forth by Jesus. As we pray and commission our high school mission team, may we all discover afresh the Jesus- style of life and ministry. I know there is a God-honoring power when I follow His example.
