Who Or What Rules My Heart?

The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:20-21

God’s holy law serves God’s holy purpose, namely to make us even more aware of our shortcomings and need of a Savior and His grace. In receiving that grace I am responding to the great love of God expressed in Jesus Christ and restoring a relationship with my creator. This glorifies God. Sin, entered the world through the first man, Adam and sin has reigned since. But, the second Adam, Jesus- the progenitor of the remade, born-again man, now reigns in our hearts and we have forgiveness of our sins and cleansing from unrighteousness.

So, for me the question is… who or what rules my heart?

God, take complete control of my heart and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank you that while I am conscious and aware of sin, it doesn’t rule my heart. You do!

I love the words to the hymn: Jesus Jesus Lord to me

Jesus Jesus Lord to me
Master Savior Prince of Peace
Ruler of my heart today
Jesus Lord to me

If I had seen the sunset
On the day that Jesus died
And felt the glow of the sunrise
When the tomb was opened wide
Would I have known You
Could I have seen that
You were more than just a man
You were Lord and King
But now I know You and I can see
That You are Lord of all
And You are Lord to me
