Who Can You Trust? God Alone.

There are moments in life when we may be asked by someone in authority to do something immoral and contrary to God’s character. It might be a manager in our workplace, a governmental official, or even a king. Failure to obey may cost you dearly, even with your life. I think these decisions are made well in advance of the conflict that arises. Christians should be resolved about matters of life, truth, and love. We should be uncompromising is holding fast to all that God commands. In such a way we show our ‘fear’ and respect for Him. A man who fears God, need not fear any man. In Egypt, prior to the Exodus of God’s people, a command came to slaughter the male infants. The midwives faced a grave decision: Shall we follow Pharaoh or God? They chose wisely and God ‘established household for them’.

So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and let the boys live?” The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife can get to them.” So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied, and became very mighty. Because the midwives feared God, He established households for them. Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you are to cast into the Nile, and every daughter you are to keep alive.” Exodus 1:18-22 NASB

What pressures are upon my life to compromise with God’s will or His ways? How am I trusting in Him and His wisdom?

God, as this day begins- I thank You that there are opportunities ahead to love people in Your name. Oh the tasks that need to be don are endless. So, help me prioritize what really matters. Would you go before me, orchestrating the many details. May we together accomplish that which most important to the kingdom. I do pause to pray for those hurting and grieving. Would you whisper words of affection and comfort to each, especially my friend Tim and his daughter Victoria.
