When To Shake It Off

shake it offThen He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. Luke 9:1-3

Christians are generally loving and gracious people. And we should be! Sometimes we need to be nice, but “move on”. When Jesus commissioned His disciples to go out on a short term mission trip, He told them to travel light, bless those who bless you, and shake the dust off from the towns that don’t. Its difficult to know when to move on when the gospel isn’t well received or when we are not. But there is a time to part ways gracefully, but making it clear that rejecting those who carry the gospel is an offense to God!

How well do I discern God’s will in this area? Medium. Sometimes I am clear and other times I am not.

God, I want to always show how valuable the gospel is to me. Let my interactions with others never cheapen what Jesus did on the cross. At the same time, help me go the extra mile for the sake of showing people they are loved by You. Lead me by the power of Your Spirit within me today.
