That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple.
For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle;
In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;
He will lift me up on a rock. Psalm 27:4-5
King David looked forward with desire to being in heaven (dwelling in the house of the Lord). In the midst of all the trouble in his life, he knew God was a refuge an hiding place and the one who could lift him up. The same is true for us today. God can comfort and provide a secret place for His people. Ultimately, we will be with Him in His presence forever. It is then all our troubles will cease.
How much do I long for and seek after being close to God? Do I anticipate time with Him?
God, I think sometimes You allow my troubles so I will desire more and more to be with You and seek You. Oh, and I have plenty. Keep my heart soft and seeking. I do desire You more than the solutions to my problems. I see Your beauty in so many ways. Please reveal how You are working to me today so I can join You.
