Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; and he said to Him, All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.
Then Jesus said to him, Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’ Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him. Matthew 4:8-11
In a dramatic encounter with the enemy of God, Jesus rejected the offer of the Devil and chose God’s way. Later Jesus would pose the question to His followers, “What will a man give in exchange for his soul?” All the kingdoms of all time are not worth it, for God and a relationship with Him is worth more than all of it. Its what we were made for.
What’s my soul worth?
God, whatever I am worth to You, it must be significant – because You love me enough to have Jesus die upon the cross for me. I want to ascribe back to You the save value and worth. I will worship the Lord my God and serve You only.
