What, Me Worry?

Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. Hebrews 2:17-18

I love the cover of Mad magazine with Alfred E. Neuman posing the question: “What, Me worry?”. The implied answer is that he is so unaware of all around him, that he would never worry about a thing. Many people are worried today- about everything!

Oh if we only knew that God has resources beyond our understanding available to us. He has appointed angels as ministering spirits to mankind. Beyond that, God has given us Jesus, who is far better than angels. The author of Hebrews makes that point. For Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. Never did an angel become like man. But, Jesus did and became our Savior forever. Why? So that He could demonstrate God’s mercy, faithfulness, and understanding of our temptations and suffering. Wow! He is uniquely qualified to meet us in prayer regarding any situation in life. What more do we need? Why should we worry when we can take it all to God in prayer.

Am I fearful or worried about anything? Have I brought it before God and received His insight, power, care, affection, and love?

God, as this day begins- May you help me be a messenger of hope and the hands of practical help to anyone in need, fear or suffering. I feel strangely at peace though others are panicking. I pray for them. May they call out to You and find peace and rest for their very souls.
