Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election.
For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:10-11
God has His part, we have ours. His is to call and elect and predestine (literally, map out in advance) us unto salvation. We are to confirm or make certain with haste, our calling by God and election. When we enter into this salvation experience and relationship with God, we are grow in our faith and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Peter says we are to ‘add’ these to our faith: goodness; knowledge; self-control; perseverance; godliness; godliness, mutual affection; and love. And when I do, I am useful and fruitful.
God, how am I adding to my faith the qualities and character of Christ?
Lord, as I finish this day. Thank you that it had some moments of goodness and fruitfulness. Please watch over my daughter as she travels to Portland. Guard her heart. I look forward to tomorrow. Help me minister and bring comfort to those suffering loss.
