undignifiedBut when David returned to bless his household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How the king of Israel distinguished himself today! He uncovered himself today in the eyes of his servants’ maids as one of the foolish ones shamelessly uncovers himself!”
So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel; therefore I will celebrate before the Lord. 2 Samuel 6:20-21

When all Israel was united under King David, he brought the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem. In the joy of the moment he was a little less than distinguished, some translations say he was accused by his wife of being ‘undignified’. His answer… it was for the Lord! We ought to be perceived from time to time as less than dignified in the overwhelming presence and joy of the Lord. This became a significant dividing moment in their lives. My belief is that David and Michal were never close or intimate again.

Am I willing to lose face and be ridiculed for the sake of Jesus Christ?

God, this is a big question. While I want to be like by people, I want to be right with You first and foremost. One day there will be no audiences, only You to whom I will give account. As this day unfolds, would you direct my steps, give wisdom, and powerfully move in my family and ministry.
