Underdog

underdogWhen they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”
And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.
And the people stood by, looking on.
And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.” Luke 23:33-35

Jesus was chided by the onlookers at the crucifixion, “Save yourself”, they cried. But if He saved Himself, we would be lost forever. So, He chose to save us. He faced the ultimate decision in the garden of Gethsemane, ‘save Others Or Save Yourself?’ He agonized and chose the greatest expression of sacrificial love. Never before had the world seen a hero like this. Jesus was the first ‘Underdog’.

How have I lived out Jesus example of greatness (being the servant of all)? What can I lay down for other’s sake?

God, thank you for Jesus example of love and forgiveness. Nothing compares. He is my hero!
