Have you ever wondered why deceit, lies, and falsehood are wrong? Does a little white lie matter? If a public official embellishes their accomplishments on a resume to get elected, is that problematic? If a significant leader in charge of the US Border says its secure, but thousands stream across it unabated, should we care? Yes! Because the author of lies is the enemy of God, Satan. He is the father of lies and God is the father of truth. We must live according to love and truth. One of the greatest mathematicians in history is a committed Christian named Blaise Pascal. He said what is ever so true in our time: “Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.” Psychologist Jordan Petersons says “Truth is the handmaiden of love”. I agree. God gave you as a Christian, the Holy Spirit who leads and guides you into all truth. By the way, there is no such thing as ‘my’ truth and ‘your’ truth… only ‘the’ truth. (Helpful definitions: True = that which agrees with the facts; Truth = that which agrees with final reality) God bless you, as you commit to walking in the truth.
I was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have received commandment to do from the Father.; And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. In what ways have I been deceived? Is there falsehood in me? Have I deceived anyone or even myself?
God, as this day begins- I know from experience that the truth sets us free. Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. I commit today to allow the Holy Spirit of God change my mind, heart, and strength to uphold the truth, reject lies, and in so doing, walk in love, which is the greatest virtue of all. I pray today O Lord, for the words of consolation for Bobby Dissmore’s precious family and friends and the same for Austin Hornung’s wonderful family as they grieve their loss on earth and anticipate a reunion with all loved ones in Christ in heaven.
