For I am with you, declares the Lord, to save you;
For I will destroy completely all the nations where I have scattered you,
Only I will not destroy you completely.
But I will chasten you justly and will by no means leave you unpunished.’ Jeremiah 30:11
Jeremiah gave hope to God’s people as he described their future restoration and also the punishment of those who had preyed upon them. But, in it, he reminded them that they would still be disciplined severely. They were receiving truth and grace at the same time. The Bible says that ‘all discipline for the moment, doesn’t seem to be joyful, but grievous, yet to those who have been trained by it, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness’.
When I endure discipline, do I look for God’s grace?
Lord, You continue to be faithful and grace-filled. May I be the same. Bless my friends Walter, Nellie, Jacob and Stefanie as they begin this new season of life. I pray Saturday night worship service continues to grow as people reach out invite friends. Help me finish the chores, projects and sermon today.
