How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.
And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?
You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God. 2 Samuel 7:22-24
In his prayer and declaration of God’s sovereignty, king David recounts God’s redemptive plan to make Israel a people redeemed and set apart to make His name known and to reflect what is available to all of us – namely, a personal relationship with the God who made us. Amazing! He says of our great God… “there is no one like you”. When we understand this truth, we can focus on what life is all about and avoid the snares and distractions that are too numerous to count in this fallen world.
How about me? When did I realize how special and unique God is? What difference is He making?
God, another day begins with so much possible. I am praying this morning for the opportunities that exist to positively influence people. Would you direct my precious hours today toward outcomes that are eternal. I need and want Your favor, even as You demonstrated to Your servant king David. Help my heart be obedient as you drive out any foreign gods from my life and as You fully redeem my soul.
