So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. Sometimes the simplest of circumstances become the greatest moments ever. I hope that’s what we all find this Christmas as we visit family and occupy our living rooms, talk with each other, and play games together…. all the while remembering the occasion is to remember our Savior and Lord Jesus.
Who would have thought that a night in the desert watching sheep would be interrupted by a heavenly visitor and turn out to be one of the greatest in history? That’s what happened. The shepherds on the Judean hillside were included in the greatest announcement imaginable… the Son of God has come into the world to save mankind from our sins.
Have I overlooked the simplest of joys? How can I appreciate my family and closest friends this season?
God, as this day begins, I am going to reflect and cherish that precious day that Jesus came into the world. I will celebrate it with glee. Please help me express the love and appreciation I have for each family member. Merry Christmas to all!
