The Return Of The King

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.  And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:1-16 NASB

I have often heard that one day Jesus will return. As I grew in my knowledge of the Bible, I discovered its actually a promise by Jesus, Himself and an expectation of every new testament writer. When and how exactly, I can’t be 100% sure. But, I do believe He will return to take His rightful place as King. In his vision, John sees why he is the rightful King,… because He dipped his robe in blood. That’s a beautiful illustration of our Savior-King. Jesus died a death He didn’t deserve to satisfy the sin debt of mankind. The cosmic battle is illustrated in that He defeats the enemies of God, striking down the rebellious nations. All of this is done in righteousness. Wow! What a day that will be.

How can I be sure I will stand with Jesus the coming king? Is my allegiance clear and complete?

God, as this day begins- I declare that I am with Your dear Son. I anticipate His return. Meanwhile, may I be a person who shares Your great love and the redemptive message of hope to one person today, or perhaps, a few… maybe more. Use me and my life as You will. I know that’s a dangerous prayer. But, You are a dangerous God!
