The People You Want To Be Around

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:30-32

There are some people, I just like being around. I think its because of the words they say and the kindness they share. Kind words and actions are powerful tools available to all of us. Of course, they emanate from a redeemed mind and an overflow of the love of God in our hearts. When I speak in a way that builds others up (edifies) according to needs of the moment, I am extending God’s grace in a small but powerful way. When my heart is free of bitterness and malice, kindness flows as I recognize how much I have been forgiven by God.

Do people want to be around me? What growth does God want to do in me with my words and ability to show kindness?

God, as this day begins, may it be one where the words from my mouth are ‘apples of gold in settings of silver’ and well fit for the occasion and people I meet. I pray that the forgiveness I have received in Christ will be evident a humble heart overflowing with kindness.
