christlikenessGod created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:27-28

In the beginning of the Bible we read the amazing creation story. On the sixth day, God created man as the pinnacle of His creation. We are made in His image. Today, I am going to dwell on how profound that is. If I am made in His likeness, then I begin to understand why I must be redeemed from the fall of the first man, Adam. Sin, has marred and scarred the image of God on mankind. The second Adam, Jesus Christ, has come to restore that image. So, the goal of my life is to become like Jesus in word, thought and deed – simply to be Christlike. While this word doesn’t pass a spell test, it is, nevertheless the goal of my life.

What part of the image of God is yet to be revealed in me?

Lord Jesus, You are both my source and my goal. Please forgive me when the ‘old man’ of sin wants to live in me. I wish that he were dead and gone. Please control me by the presence of Your Spirit in me. May I reflect the glory of God’s original creation.
