And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters. Revelation 14:6-7
In John’s vision, the gospel continues to be preached prior to the return of Jesus Christ. Its the eternal and simple message that God is our creator and we are to revere Him and live for His glory, not our own. Solomon wrote something similar in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.” While there is so much more included in the gospel… a loving heavenly Father who sent His Son to redeem the world, etc., this is the beginning posture for all of us to humbly acknowledge creator – creation relationship.
Do I have a holy fear of God? How am I living my life for His glory (fulfilling the purpose for which I was made)?
Another great day ahead. God, I trust You have heard my early prayers. Looking forward to another great day. May Your power and love be on display as I try to live my life according to Your eternal gospel.
