The Birth Of The Church

This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.
Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says:
The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,
Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’
Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.” Acts 2:33-36

On that amazing day of Pentecost, Peter’s message was an explanation of what King David and Joel had prophesied. Specifically, David foresaw that the Christ (Messiah) would not be bound by death or bodily corruption, but would supernaturally be at the right hand of the throne of God. Paul explained this was the resurrection of Jesus- the greatest miracle of history. What was their response? Repentance! Wonderful, heartfelt, contrition and obedience leading to baptism and fellowship and a whole new expression of life wherein the ways of Jesus were paramount to living.

When and how did I experience the same thing? Do I remember my addition to the church?

Lord, I am grateful today, as I was at the beginning to finally understand what You have done in Jesus Christ and the difference it can make. Thank you for adding me to this historical group of people who place value on who Jesus is and what He has done. May my life be a testimony of love, so that all would know I belong to You and take the name Christian!
