I would like to think that as I get older I am still learning new things. Of course, I should take time to relearn what I once knew too. Much of what I know is just revealed in life and nature. These are the things any natural person can understand being born into the world: gravity and its effect, food and our necessity, people and the joy they are, etc. But, there are ‘things of the Spirit of God’ that cannot be discerned unless one is born again (comes into a saving relationship with God through Jesus Christ, the Son of God). These are far more important and eternal ‘things’, like the wisdom of God, the purpose of life, the glory of man, the future and now kingdom of God. You simply cannot ascertain these apart from the Holy Spirit informing your mind. You can’t read it in a book alone. No Youtube video will impart this knowledge to you. But, oh… when you are Spirt led and filled, you have access to the very thoughts of God (mind of Christ). That’s not natural. Its super-natural!
But a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. But the one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 NASB
Do I avail myself of the wisdom of God and the very mind of Christ by praying continually? How do I fall short by relying only upon what nature can teach me?
God, as this day begins- I invite You by the Holy Spirit to reveal to me what I need to know and Your mind on all things. I want to live more than a natural life. I want to live a supernatural life glorifying You and fulfilling the calling You’ve placed on me. So I open my heart and mind to You today. Fill me with wisdom from above. Speak to me, for your servant awaits. Amen.
