For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer. In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following. But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. 1 Timothy 4:4:7
Paul warns Timothy that he will encounter false teachers and have to counter their destructive heresies with sound doctrine. He mentions that hypocritical teachers would try to superimpose rules about food and others would try to mislead people with fables. Nothing has changed today. So, we must continually teach sound doctrine. The alternatives always lead people to destroy their lives.
Do I have a grasp on the Bible? Can I discern Biblical truth from cultural preferences?
God, today more than ever, I feel like people can be so easily misled. Please use me and others in leading the church to doctrinal safety. I pray as this day begins, that You would lead and guide. Please continue to provide and show Your power and love. Help me with wisdom to resolve problems, overcome obstacles, and lead courageously. May I be known as someone that believes sound doctrine matters. May I teach it without hypocrisy.
