Scissors that Shine

Did I choose Christ or did He choose me? What was my part in this salvation of God? I know I have and continue to seek after God, but the longer I live, I see His sovereign hand leading me step by step. Jesus paid the penalty for my sin and no degree of righteous living will earn me any more. Whatever part I have had is minimal, yet I do have a part. Perhaps its like the question, when cutting a piece of paper with scissors, which blade does the cutting? I am to work out my salvation with a humble reverence realizing its all to God’s credit. My job is to now do His good purpose in the world. When we do that we shine!

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. Philippians 2:12-16 NASB

Where is my blade dull and not working closely with God? Am I trying to take any glory from the Lord who has saved me?

God, as this day begins- I am excited on a number of levels but overwhelmed with the work ahead too. There are people who depend on me. I don’t want to let any down. So, work within me first, and then through me to accomplish Your will in the world. Thank you for the cutie grandkids who spent the night. And hallelujah, this is my oldest son’s birthday. Happy birthday to Kai!
