Roadside Assistance For Souls

My son had a problem with his car last Thursday. He had driven about a mile away from the house, called me, malfunctions all over- apparently the alternator was not recharging the battery and as a result of intermittent electrical power all the systems were failing including power steering! So, I drove to him, traded cars, and called a tow truck. I gave him some much needed roadside assistance. Ever been stranded and needed help like that? I think we all have at one point or another. In the same way, we need assistance in our Christian journey from others who show hospitality, encouragement, physical care and especially care for our soul. The beloved apostle John pleaded with the brothers that they do just that… and most did. They were walking in the truth. But, Diotrephes would not do it. He was malicious and prating about. John would address him face to face. What an opportunity we have to express the love of God amongst the brethren. Let’s offer some assistance today. Lot’s of us are broken down in some form or fashion.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.  I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 2 John 1:2-4 NASB

Who will need my assistance today? In what ways could I let someone else love me and assist me?

God, as this day begins- I am praying for the people who called late last night. Oh, that You would buoy up Rob with the tremendous and sudden loss. God support each who are anxious and worried about health. Oh Lord, speed the recovery of my own injured ankle. I would love to surf next week! Please make our church one that is ready, willing, able to offer roadside assistance to souls!
