The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21
Repent, means to turn away from sin and toward our loving God. In John’s vision, he sees a third of mankind lose their lives to plagues. Instead of turning to God for help, they did not repent of their multitude of sins. Sadly, this is the case for many today and will be for those in the great tribulation to come. It really is “his kindness that leads us to repentance” Romans 2:4. Oh, that more and more would respond this Christmas season to God’s kindness expressed in Jesus Christ the Savior of the world.
When did God rescue me from idolatry, hatred, demonic influence, drug use, and immoral behavior and theft?
God, I am glad that nearly 25 years ago You became real to me. Thank you for the sanctifying work of Your Spirit in my life. As we work together today, may it be filled with joy and effectiveness. Keep me aware of Your kindness and continually repentant.
