Then God remembered Rachel, and God gave heed to her and opened her womb. So she conceived and bore a son and said, “God has taken away my reproach.” She named him Joseph, saying, “May the Lord give me another son.” Genesis 30:22-24
Rachel is an interesting person. She was competitive with her sister, seemed to be faith filled, but she still tried to take matters into her own hands. As soon as God gave her the long awaited son, she immediately asks for another. Where was the rejoicing and praise? Later we will see that Joseph received very special parental treatment. This too, may be a sign of some spiritual maturity needed in Rachel’s life.
How about me? Where is God trying to bring spiritual maturity in my life?
God, getting it right with kids is a difficult thing. Please give me the wisdom and insight to be the parent You want me to be.
