And he said, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down tomorrow to the Council, as though they were going to inquire somewhat more thoroughly about him. Some people are so opposed to the gospel that they will actually conspire to kill those proclaiming it. It happened to Paul, it happens today! Christians are persecuted around the world and often to the point of death. God, however intervened through the Roman commander who upheld the law and transferred Paul to Felix where his trial could be conducted fairly and the assassination attempt would be thwarted. Sadly, many countries will not uphold their own laws to protect Christians, nor will they prosecute persecutors.

Do I ever worry about what others might want to do to me? Am I overly concerned about what others say about me?

God, You protected Paul and I have seen Your hand of protection exerted for me. Thank you for the privilege of preaching the gospel and living in a free society. Please help those around the world suffering for Your cause. Protect them through laws, angels, and all circumstances for Your Name’s sake.
